The K2 story
K2 started life on Vashon Island, Washington, in 1962 as a ski company, and grew into one of the biggest names in winter sports. When snowboarding took off, K2 was among the established players that took it seriously and went on to genuinely shape the gear.
Most significantly, K2 pioneered the BOA dial lacing system in snowboard boots, a technology that transformed how riders get a fast, even, dialled fit. That spirit of practical innovation still runs through the range.
Who is K2 for?
K2 is a true full-kit brand with particular strength in boots. The board range covers beginner-friendly all-mountain decks through to freestyle and freeride shapes, but it is the boots K2 is best known for: comfortable, well built, and often the easiest path to a good fit thanks to BOA.
If you want a complete setup from one brand, or you have struggled with boot fit before, K2 is a brand we reach for often. The range scales from beginner through to advanced.
What does K2 technology actually do?
- BOA Fit System — K2 pioneered BOA in snowboard boots. A dial-driven system that tightens evenly and fast with no pressure points. Many K2 boots run dual-zone BOA for independent upper and lower adjustment.
- Board profiles — a full range of camber, flat and hybrid profiles across all-mountain, freestyle and freeride shapes.
- System matching — K2 boots, bindings and boards are designed to work together as a complete setup.

How does K2 compare to the other brands we carry?

Read the guide, then talk to us
K2's strength is boots, and boots are the one thing worth not buying blind. Start with our boot fit guide, then call us on 03 9421 2293, message us, or come into the Richmond showroom.
Tell us your shoe size, the boot you are in now and what you did not like about it. That is usually enough for us to point you at the right K2 model, and we will heat-mould them free on the spot. If you are building a full setup, we can spec the board and bindings around the boot rather than the other way round, which is the order that actually works.
