54 to 56mm is the all-round sweet spot for street and park. Go smaller (50 to 53mm) for technical street, larger (56 to 60mm) for transition and bowl, and 60mm and up for cruising. Most street skaters run 52 to 54mm.

It is the wheel hardness. 99a to 101a is hard and fast for smooth surfaces, street and park. 78a to 87a is soft, absorbing rough ground for cruising and rough streets. 88a to 95a sits in between for general use.
