Dakine

The Dakine story

Dakine started in 1979 in Hawaii (the name is local slang for the kind, meaning the best) making surf leashes, before expanding into the bags, packs and accessories it is now known for worldwide. That surf-and-mountain heritage gives Dakine a no-nonsense, built-to-last approach: gear designed by people who travel with boards, ride in real conditions, and need kit that does not fall apart. Decades on, Dakine remains one of the most trusted accessory brands in board sports.

Who is Dakine for?

Every rider, because everyone needs a way to carry, protect and travel with their gear. The range covers snowboard travel bags (essential for protecting your board on a Japan or NZ trip), boot bags, backcountry and resort packs, gloves and mitts across all price points, and a huge spread of accessories. It is particularly strong for anyone travelling to ride or building out the kit around their board: reliable, well-priced, and built to last.

What does Dakine do best?

• Board bags and travel — padded snowboard bags and wheeled travel bags that protect your gear in transit. See our travel essentials guide.
• Packs — resort and backcountry packs, including avalanche-gear-compatible options if you are touring.
• Gloves and mitts — a strong, well-priced range across warmth and dexterity. Our glove and mitt guide helps you choose.
• Accessories — tuning kits, stomp pads, leashes, beanies and more.

Which Dakine board bag do you need?

For flying to ride, a padded board bag is essential to protect your board from baggage handling. A basic padded sleeve suits a single board; a wheeled travel bag holds a board plus boots, bindings and outerwear and rolls through airports, which is what most people want for an overseas trip. Size to your board length plus a little room, and if in doubt go slightly longer. We will help you match the right bag to how you travel.
