Splitboard bindings are a distinct category from resort snowboard bindings. They need to do two things a resort binding never does — release from the board cleanly for the tour mode, attach securely to the splitboard's touring brackets for the uphill, and then lock back into a riding position for the descent. The mechanism matters as much as the flex and strap quality.

The two dominant systems are Spark R&D and Jones, with Karakoram offering a premium direct-clip alternative and Burton rounding out the range. Spark R&D's Phantom and Arc bindings are the most widely used splitboard binding in Australia and globally — the puck system is fast, reliable and compatible with a wide range of splitboard touring brackets.
