What is Korua known for?
Korua Shapes emerged from Europe with a simple, almost philosophical mission, captured in their film series Yearning for Turning: chase the feeling of the perfect carve.
Rather than building a board for every category, Korua focuses on directional shapes designed to engage, hold and release a turn with a surfy, natural feel. The understated black-and-white aesthetic and shape-led thinking have made it a favourite among experienced riders who have ridden everything and come back to the simple pleasure of laying down turns.
Who is Korua for?
Riders who love carving and freeriding. Typically intermediate to advanced, wanting a board with genuine character and a directional, surf-inspired feel.
Worth being straight about it: these are not park boards and they are not beginner decks. If you want to ride switch and hit features all day, another brand will serve you better and we will happily point you there. If you have been riding a while and want to rediscover why you love turning, this is the one.
Which Korua shape should you get?
- Cafe Racer — the all-round carving shape, and the natural starting point in the range.
- Transition Finder — the most versatile of the range if you want one board across varied terrain.
- Dart and Pencil — powder-focused shapes using taper and directional profiles for effortless float.
Range availability shifts season to season, so call us and we will tell you what has actually landed.
What makes the shapes ride differently?
Korua differentiates by shape rather than by technology buzzwords. Every board is built around turn feel: engaged edges, a smooth release, and a ride closer to surfing than to skiing.
Our camber profiles guide and powder board guide explain how these shapes behave underfoot.
Read the guide, then talk to us
Korua is a narrow, opinionated range, which makes picking the right shape more important than usual. There is no safe all-rounder here quietly covering for a wrong choice.
Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into the Richmond showroom. Tell us where you ride and what you want the board to do, and we will tell you which shape fits, or whether Korua is the right brand for you at all. We would rather do that than sell you a carving board you end up fighting in the park.
