Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Head injuries are the most serious risk in skating and a certified helmet meaningfully reduces it. Modern helmets are light, comfortable and look good, so there is no good reason not to wear one.

ASTM F1492 is the skate-specific certification, testing for the repeated lower-velocity impacts of skating. CPSC dual-certification is also good. Every helmet we sell is certified, and we do not stock uncertified helmets.

A dual-certified helmet works for both. A bike-only helmet is single-impact certified and not ideal for skateboarding's repeated-impact pattern, so a skate-certified helmet is the right choice.

Measure your head circumference at its widest point above the eyebrows and match the size chart for the specific helmet. It should sit level, two fingers above the eyebrows, and not rock when you shake your head. Come in and we will fit you.

Replace after any significant impact even if there is no visible damage, since the foam may be compromised. Otherwise every 3 to 5 years as materials degrade, and whenever it no longer fits correctly.
