The Thunder story

Thunder is part of Deluxe Distribution in San Francisco, the same respected house as Spitfire, Real and Krooked. The brand built its name on a lighter, lower-profile truck geometry that street skaters love for quick, responsive turning and a planted feel for technical skating. With a deep pro team and a long track record, Thunder is one of the two or three trucks you will see under serious street skaters everywhere.

What size Thunder trucks do you need?

Match the truck width to your deck width so the wheels sit roughly flush with the edges. As a guide, Thunder 147 suits decks around 7.75 to 8.0 inch, 148 suits 8.0 to 8.25, and 149 suits 8.25 to 8.5 and up. Tell us your deck width and we will match it, or we sort it when you build a custom complete.

Thunder Hi or Lo?

Thunder comes in two heights. Lo sits closer to the deck for a lower centre of gravity, more stability and easier flip tricks, and it pairs best with smaller wheels (around 50 to 53mm). Hi gives more ground clearance and a bit more turn, and suits larger wheels (54mm and up) and more all-round or transition skating. Most technical street skaters run Lo; if you ride bigger wheels or want more clearance, go Hi.

Standard, Hollow Lights or Titanium?

All three share Thunder's geometry, so they turn and grind the same, the difference is weight and price. Standard is the classic tough, reliable build. Hollow Lights use a hollow kingpin and axle to shave weight. Titanium is the lightest, using a titanium axle, for skaters chasing minimum weight for flip tricks. Pick based on how much you value light weight versus cost.
