Electric rideables are where board sport culture meets serious technology. The category moves fast: motors get more powerful, batteries get lighter, and new brands appear every season. Knowing what actually matters versus what is marketing noise is the difference between a setup you ride every day and one that lives in the garage.

We have been selling and riding electric skateboards and e-bikes since the early days of the category. Frosty runs our in-house workshop, and the whole team rides the gear we stock. These guides are built from that.

Electric bike guides

Fat tyre e-bikes have a genuine split in the market: road-legal EN15194 certified bikes for commuting and bike paths, and off-road unrestricted builds with more power for private property and trail use. Knowing which category you are buying in before you spend matters, particularly in Victoria.

Electric skateboard guides

Electric skateboards vary more than most people expect. Belt drive, hub motor and direct drive change how the board feels completely. Deck shape and flex affect carve feel. Published range figures are almost always optimistic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a fat tyre electric bike road legal in Australia?

Only if it is EN15194 certified: a 250W continuous-rated motor, pedal assist only, cutting out at 25km/h. That specification is legal on public roads, bike lanes and shared paths. Higher-powered unrestricted bikes are not legal on public roads or shared paths in Victoria.

How far will an electric bike really go on one charge?

Expect 30 to 50km real world from a battery under 500Wh, 50 to 80km from 500 to 750Wh, and 80km or more above 750Wh. Claimed range figures assume flat ground, a light rider and low assist, so treat them as a best case rather than a plan.

Do electric bikes arrive assembled?

For local pickup we assemble and safety check your bike free in our Richmond workshop. Shipped bikes arrive around 90 percent assembled, with the front wheel, handlebars, pedals and seat to finish. It takes most people 15 to 20 minutes with the included tools.

Can I test ride an electric bike or board before buying?

Yes. We keep demo e-bikes and electric skateboards at our Richmond showroom, open seven days. On a purchase this size it is worth riding one first, because motor feel and ride position vary far more between models than the spec sheets suggest.

Do you service the electric bikes and boards you sell?

Yes. Frosty runs our in-house electric workshop at 435A Bridge Road, Richmond, and we service and repair every brand we sell. No sending your bike interstate and no waiting on a brand to answer a warranty claim. We carry parts and ride the products.
