What makes a good park board?
Three things: a true twin shape so it rides and lands switch identically, a softer flex that presses and butters without fighting you, and enough pop to send jumps and ollie onto rails. Park boards are symmetrical on purpose, because in the park you ride both directions and a directional board punishes you for it.
The flex is the part people underrate. A board you can actually bend is a board you can press, and pressing is where a lot of park progression lives.
Do you need a dedicated park board?
Depends how you ride. If the park is your day, a dedicated soft twin is worth it. If you split your time between park and cruising the mountain, an all-mountain-freestyle board gives you park-friendly flex with more versatility for the rest of the hill.
Tell us your split and we will point you at a pure park board or a do-both shape accordingly.
Does park riding change the durability you need?
Yes, and it is worth thinking about. Rails and boxes are hard on bases and edges, so park boards often use tougher, more damage-resistant base materials. In Australian conditions, where early-season and spring park can mean firm, abrasive snow, that durability earns its keep.
How should a park board be sized?
Park boards are commonly ridden a little shorter for maneuverability and easier spinning, but weight and boot size still matter. A shorter board is easier to throw around; slightly longer gives more stability on landings. Give us your height, weight and boot size and we will get the length right for how you ride.
What flex for park?
Softer than all-mountain, but not the softest board on the wall. A mid-soft twin presses and butters while still holding a landing, which is the balance most park riders want. Pure jibbers go softer; jump-focused riders often want a touch more backbone for stability at speed and on bigger landings.
