Fat boy from 12 Boards

I absolutely love the bike and use it nearly everyday.
I’m 67 years old but it’s a bit like going back to having dirt bikes in the mid seventies! Also 12 boards was easy to deal with. A great shop.

Adding another to my collection, best layer for 1st or 2nd layer.

Disorder Mark Appleyard Gradient Skateboard Deck | 8.0"

Smoothest Feet in Skateboarding.

Mark Appleyard has been making skateboarding look effortless for over two decades. The Canadian took Thrasher's Skater of the Year in 2003 and has spent every year since building a case as one of the most stylish skaters to ever step on a board — the kind of rider other pros watch to remember what good looks like. His pro model on Disorder sits in the Gradient team series, a clean heat-transfer graphic that lets the shape and the name do the talking.

Construction is premium 7-ply North American maple on Disorder's own custom shape and mould, pressed in the USA. No composite layers, no proprietary resin marketing — properly selected maple, a shape built around how the team actually skates, and consistent pressing. Medium concave: enough to lock your feet in for flip tricks, mellow enough that you're not fatigued by the end of a long session.

At 8.0" x 31.75" with a 14.25" wheelbase, this is the most-ridden width in skateboarding and the natural default for technical street. It flips fast, it's responsive underfoot, and it's the size most skaters end up back on regardless of what else they try. A 7" nose and 6.375" tail give a slightly longer nose, which suits nollie and switch skating alongside regular.

Disorder is Nyjah Huston's company, built so the riders on it have control over their own boards. Appleyard is exactly the kind of name that gives a young brand credibility it can't buy.

Why Ride the Disorder Appleyard Gradient?

• Mark Appleyard Pro Model
A pro board from a Thrasher Skater of the Year and one of the most respected stylists in skateboarding.

• Gradient Team Series Graphic
Clean heat-transfer artwork — lighter and thinner than a traditional screen print, with a smooth finish under your hand.

• Premium 7-Ply North American Maple
Proven construction with proper pop and a consistent feel. No composite layers you're paying extra for.

• Custom Disorder Shape and Mould
Not an off-the-shelf blank. Disorder runs its own shape and mould across the line.

• Pressed in the USA
Made in a US factory with the quality control that comes with it.

• 8.0" Width
The most popular width in skateboarding. Quick to flip, responsive underfoot, and the best all-round choice for street and park.

• 7" Nose / 6.375" Tail
A slightly longer nose than tail, which favours nollie and switch tricks alongside regular skating.

• Medium Concave
Enough shape to lock your feet in for flip tricks, mellow enough to skate all day without your feet aching.

• Free Jessup Grip
Every deck we sell comes with free Jessup griptape — the industry standard for consistent grit and reliable adhesion.

What width is right for me?

As a general guide: 7.5"–7.875" suits smaller riders or those focused on technical street skating. 8.0"–8.25" is the most popular all-round street and park size. 8.25"–8.5" suits riders who prefer a slightly bigger platform for stability. 8.5" and above works well for transition, bowls, and larger riders. Shoe size plays a role too — bigger feet generally prefer wider decks. Not sure? Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into the Richmond store and we'll sort it out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's a heat transfer graphic, and does it wear differently to a screen print?
A: A heat transfer is applied as a thin printed film rather than screen-printed ink. It gives you sharper detail, gradients and photographic artwork that screen printing can't reproduce, and it adds almost no weight. The trade-off is that it can scuff and peel at the edges faster than a screen print once you start grinding and sliding the board. Neither affects how the deck skates or how long it lasts — it's purely cosmetic. If you're buying to skate, it makes no practical difference.

Q: Is 8.0" the right width for me?
A: For most adult and teenage riders, yes — it's the default for a reason. It flips quickly enough to learn kickflips and heelflips on, and it's stable enough that you're not fighting it in a park. Riders under about 5'3" or with a shoe size under 8 might find 7.75" easier, and anyone tall with big feet may prefer 8.25". Run 149mm trucks on an 8.0". Unsure? Call us on 03 9421 2293 with your height and shoe size.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store

Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.

Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.

We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.

Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.

Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
