Will a beanie fit under a helmet?

Some will, some will not, and it is worth getting right. A thin, low-profile beanie in merino or a fine knit sits comfortably under a helmet and adds warmth without pushing the fit out. A chunky cabled knit will not, and forcing it makes the helmet sit high and loose, which is both cold and less safe.

If you want one beanie that does both jobs, go thinner. If it is for before and after riding rather than under the lid, the chunky styles are fair game.
