The Yuppie is Powell's pro wheel for the Yuppie family of tech slide riders from Brazil. Tech slide means taking a standard street or park setup down hills and mixing street tricks, spins and powerslides to control your speed, and this wheel is made for exactly that.

Powell rates it 84B, which equals 104A, and pours it in a slide-focused formula picked for flatspot resistance, edge grip and long life. The 58 x 32mm Rat Bone II shape is narrow and symmetrical, so it breaks loose easily and rolls fast on smooth surfaces.

About Powell Peralta

Powell Peralta was founded in 1978 by engineer George Powell and skater Stacy Peralta in Santa Barbara, California. Powell had already been baking his own urethane wheels and building his own boards since the mid 1970s, and in 1979 the pair formed the Bones Brigade, the team that included Ray "Bones" Rodriguez, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Tommy Guerrero and Mike Vallely.

Today Powell Peralta still puts a big focus on urethane research and its own wheel formulas. Dragon Formula covers street and park, while Soft Slide Formula (SSF) covers cruising, freeride and downhill. Riders pick Powell because the wheels last, roll fast and slide when you want them to, and because the brand has been part of skating for close to five decades.

What are Yuppie wheels best for?
Tech slide: riding a street or park setup down hills with spins, powerslides and street tricks. Powell also lists skateparks as a suggested use. At 104A they break loose easily and resist flatspots, but they're too hard to be comfortable on rough streets.

What does 104A (84B) mean?
Powell rates the Yuppie at 84B on the B scale, which equals about 104A. The B scale is used for very hard wheels and reads 20 points lower than the A scale. That's harder than a typical 99a to 101a street wheel, so it slides more and grips less.

Will 58mm wheels fit my board or do I need risers?
58mm fits most popsicle decks on mid or high trucks. On low trucks, add a 1/8" riser to avoid wheel bite.

Do they come with bearings?
No. You get a set of 4 wheels with no bearings. Any standard 608 skateboard bearing fits, so you'll need a set of 8 (two per wheel), plus spacers if your bearings don't have them built in.
