Lib Tech Mayhem Libzilla Snowboard | 2027
Float It. Carve It. Destroy It.
The Lib Tech Mayhem Libzilla is the answer to one question every serious snowboarder asks before booking a Japan trip — what board do I take? Born from Matt Biolos's surf shaping trips to Hokkaido and the obsession with replicating that low-angle, laid-out, bottomless feeling on snow, the Libzilla is a full-scale directional powder weapon that doesn't apologise for what it is. This is not a quiver-of-one. This is the board you bring when the forecast is calling for a metre of Japow and you need everything to go exactly right.
The shape is built around a massive low-entry floaty nose that planes instantly in deep snow, eliminating the front-foot pressure that kills your legs on a standard directional. Progressive sidecuts — a multi-radius 9-8-7m sidecut — transition seamlessly from long, drawn-out powder arcs to hard, precise groomer trenches, giving the Libzilla a split personality that most powder boards can't pull off. The deep swallowtail settles into soft snow to add control and drive, while the early-rise directional camber keeps the board loaded and powerful through the whole turn rather than going flat and dead when the terrain firms up.
Original Power Construction pairs 75% Aspen with 25% Paulownia for a core that is light without being soft, and lively without being chattery. Triax and Biax fiberglass work together — Triax for torsional stability and snap, Biax for flex pattern consistency and chatter reduction. UHMW sintered sidewalls and Birch internal sidewalls add impact resistance and pop. UHMW tip and tail impact deflection replaces steel edges at the nose and tail, reducing swing weight and making damage repair dramatically easier. The Sintered Knife Cut base is fast, wax-hungry, and built to hold speed across the flat run-outs that eat boards alive on deep days.
Why Ride the Lib Tech Mayhem Libzilla?
✅ Matt Biolos Japow-Inspired Shape – Designed from surf shaping trips to Japan specifically to replicate the feeling of riding deep, low-angle snow like a wave
✅ Low-Entry Floaty Nose – Massive nose volume planes instantly in powder without front-foot pressure, saving your legs for the runs that matter
✅ Progressive 9-8-7m Sidecut – Multi-radius geometry that transitions from pow arcs to groomer trenches without skipping a beat
✅ Deep Swallowtail – Reduces tail surface area in soft snow for control, pivot, and that unmistakable surf-style drive out of the bottom of a turn
✅ Early Rise Directional Camber – Setback camber loads energy through the turn and delivers explosive power on exit, without going dead on firm snow
✅ Medium-Stiff Flex (6.5/10) – Stiff enough to charge hard at speed, with enough give to stay surfy and expressive in variable conditions
✅ Original Power Construction – 75% Aspen / 25% Paulownia core; light, strong, and built for a lifetime of hard riding
✅ Triax / Biax Fiberglass – Combined laminate delivers torsional precision and smooth, consistent flex from nose to tail
✅ UHMW Tip / Tail Impact Deflection – Replaces steel edges at nose and tail to reduce swing weight and eliminate edge damage on trees, rocks, and all the things you'll hit in tight Japow lines
✅ Birch Internal + UHMW Sintered Sidewalls – Birch adds pop and impact resistance; UHMW outer sidewalls are twice as sintered as industry standard for long-term durability
✅ Sintered Knife Cut Base – High-density UHMW, die-cut to reduce waste, fast out of the bag, and built to hold wax through back-to-back deep days
✅ Handmade in the USA – Every board built by snowboarders at Mervin Manufacturing, Sequim, Washington

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Libzilla the right board for a Japan trip?
If you're going to Japan and you plan to actually ride powder, yes — this is exactly the board you want. The Libzilla was literally born from Matt Biolos's Japow trips, and everything about the shape — the low-entry nose, the progressive sidecut, the deep swallow, the setback stance — is designed for the kind of bottomless, low-angle, tree-filled terrain you find in Hokkaido and Nagano. It will make your Japan trip. Back home at Buller or Falls Creek it still rips on groomers — the progressive sidecut is genuinely impressive on cord — but if Japan is on the cards, this is your weapon of choice.
It only comes in 188cm — is that going to work for me?
The Libzilla is a one-size board, and that size is big. At 188cm with a 27cm waist it is designed for riders 70kg and above who want maximum float and presence in deep snow. Don't let the length intimidate you — the short effective edge relative to overall length, the low-entry nose, and the setback stance make it ride shorter and more maneuverable than the number suggests. That said, this is not a beginner board and it is not a park board. It is a purpose-built powder weapon for advanced riders who want to go big. If you're not there yet, the Sweetfish is a more approachable starting point in the Lib x Mayhem range.
How does the Libzilla compare to the Sweetfish?
Same family, very different animals. The Sweetfish is the nimble, surfy fish — shorter, more playful, lower consequence, great for tight trees and quick pivots. The Libzilla is the monster — longer, stiffer, more powerful, built for big open terrain, high speed, and the kind of deep snow where you want the board to do the work. The Sweetfish rewards lightness of touch; the Libzilla rewards commitment and aggression. Both are Japan-trip boards. The Sweetfish suits tighter, technical riding. The Libzilla suits riders who want to lay it out on big open faces and charge.
What bindings and stance should I run on this?
The Libzilla runs 2x4 inserts so it's compatible with any standard or mini disc binding. The built-in setback is 5 inches — keep it there, that's where the board is designed to perform. For bindings, you want something with enough stiffness to match the board's medium-stiff flex — a soft binding on the Libzilla will kill the response. Medium-stiff to stiff freeride bindings are the call. If you want to talk binding matching in detail, call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into the Melbourne showroom before you book your trip.
