How does AK fit into a layering system?

AK is built to run as part of a system rather than as a standalone warm jacket. Most AK pieces are shells, which means insulation comes from what you put underneath. That is the point. You regulate temperature by changing layers rather than by unzipping and losing all your heat at once.

Is AK worth it for Australian conditions?
