A resort pack is compact and low-profile, sized for water, snacks, a spare layer and a goggle lens. A touring pack needs a board carry system, dedicated shovel and probe storage, hydration compatibility, and a harness that stays comfortable on a long climb.
Vertical carry is quickest on and off and suits tight bootpacks. Diagonal spreads the load and is more stable on longer approaches. A-frame carry, splitting a splitboard either side of the pack, is the most balanced for sustained climbing.
