Bronson Raw Bearings
No shields, no fluff. Just raw, fast bearings.
Bronson Raw bearings are functional, no-gimmick skateboard bearings with no shields at all. Without shields there's nowhere for dirt and gunk to build up, and the inside of the bearing is right there when you want to clean or lube it. They suit skaters who like a fast, loud, open bearing and don't want to fuss with shields.
The races carry a micro-thin tungsten coating that acts as a dry lubricant, keeping them rolling smoothly for longer. Deep groove raceways help them handle side impacts, the Max Impact cage keeps the balls evenly spaced, and each set is packed in nitrogen-filled shrink wrap so they're fresh when you open them.

About Bronson
Bronson Speed Co. is the bearing brand from NHS, the Santa Cruz, California company behind Santa Cruz Skateboards, Independent Trucks and OJ Wheels. It was built around one job: making bearings designed for the impacts, side loads and dirt that modern skateboarding throws at them.
Bronson is known for its G3 platform and its shield-free Raw bearings. Deep groove raceways, the Max Impact cage and Balls Out design are all aimed at keeping a bearing fast after hard landings, and every set ships nitrogen sealed so it is fresh when you open it. Riders pick Bronson for strong, quick bearings with real skate engineering behind them.
FAQs
Do these fit all skateboard wheels?
Yes. They're standard 608 size skateboard bearings with an 8mm bore, so they fit almost every skateboard, cruiser and longboard wheel on a standard 8mm axle. Each wheel takes two bearings, so this set of 8 does all four wheels on one board.
Do Raw bearings have an ABEC rating?
No. Bronson doesn't use ABEC, which only measures machining tolerances for industrial use. Raw bearings are built to Bronson's own skate spec, with deep groove raceways and tungsten coated races, and the shield-free design is the real point of difference.
How do I clean shieldless bearings?
There are no shields to remove, so just wipe off dirt and add a drop or two of skate bearing oil when they start to feel dry. If they get properly gritty, flush them in isopropyl alcohol, dry them fully and re-oil. Keep them out of water, as there's nothing stopping it getting in.
Do I need spacers?
Spacers aren't included, so add a set if you want them. Spacers sit on the axle between the two bearings in each wheel, so the bearings stay lined up when you tighten the axle nut. Lots of street skaters ride without them, but they help bearings spin freely and stop them being crushed if the nut is over-tightened.
Are shieldless bearings louder?
Yes, they tend to have a louder, raw hum because nothing covers the balls. That's normal and part of the appeal for a lot of skaters.

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
