Whether it is after your Summer Japan powder trip or at the end of the Australian snow season it is really important to take some steps to put your snowboard away in the off-season and look after your gear. For many of us our snowboard kit is something we take lots of pride in and let's be honest we spend a heap of cash on it. Your premium high-performance equipment needs a bit of TLC when you pack it away in the off-season.
To Start) Make sure all your gear is dry. Take your boot inners out and allow your boots to dry inside and out. When dry put liners back in and do them up, it helps retain shape. Hang your outerwear, gloves, goggles, helmet, your gear gets wet, make sure everything is thoroughly dry. Give your outerwear a good clean and re-waterproof using Nikwax products

1) Start by removing your bindings. Try to store your board without bindings or at least loosen the screws that hold the bindings to the board to take pressure off your inserts. At this stage have a look over your bindings and tighten any screws and check the buckles for any damage. Better to organize now them try to get fixed or organize parts a week before you need to go.
2) Give your snowboard a wipe down with a warm damp cloth front and back, getting rid of all the excess grit and grime on your board. You may need to use a course brush on the base. Do the same with your bindings and the outer of your boots. You may need to use something to get into all the crevasses but get in there and get all that grit out.
3) Next run a gummy stone around the edges of your board. This can get rid of rust and watermarks as well as any metal burrs. We recommend using an edge file and sharpening your edges. This gets them ready for the next time you ride and makes it look all clean and tidy and ready to ride.
4) Give your board a storage/Summer wax. The storage/Summer wax is the process of applying wax to your snowboard but not scraping and buffing the board as you would when you are going to ride it. This leaves a thick coat of wax that covers the base as well as the edges of the snowboard. This helps keep the board from drying out as well as preventing the steel edges from oxidising. As a benefit this gets it ready to go, all you need to do is scrape and buff the board and go ride.
