Triple 8 Gotham MIPS Helmet | Black Rubber
Urban style, MIPS inside, dual certified for skate and bike.
The Triple 8 Gotham MIPS is Triple Eight's urban-styled helmet with a subtle brim, Triple Eight logo vents and MIPS inside. This one comes in Black Rubber, a black shell with a matte rubberised finish. It is built for riders who skate, commute and cruise on e-bikes or e-skateboards and want one lid that does it all.
An ABS outer shell sits over Triple Eight's patented Conehead EPS liner, with a MIPS low-friction layer that is designed to reduce rotational forces from angled impacts. A reflective adjustable fit dial and two sets of Sweatsaver fit pads lock in a custom fit, and grooved EPS channels air through the logo vents.

Size Guide
Wrap a soft tape around your head about 2cm above the eyebrows, at the widest point, and take the number in cm. Triple Eight measures from the middle of the forehead. If you're between sizes, Triple Eight says size up and use the dial to snug it in.
| Size | Head circumference | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| XS/S | 48–54cm | 18.9–21.3in |
| S/M | 55–58cm | 21.7–22.8in |
| L/XL | 59–61cm | 23.2–24in |
The adjustable fit dial and two sets of Sweatsaver fit pads fine-tune the fit within each size.
About Triple 8
Triple Eight was born on the streets of New York City and made its first helmet in 1996. It started as skate protection for people who actually ride, and that is still the whole point. Over the years the brand has built signature lids with some of the biggest names on a board, from Tony Hawk pro models to Mike McGill's Skull and Snake Deep Cover and a Deep Cover for back-to-back Olympic gold medallist Keegan Palmer.
Today Triple Eight is known for the Sweatsaver liner, soft sweat-absorbing fit pads that turned the Certified Sweatsaver into one of the most recognised helmets at any skatepark. Riders choose Triple Eight for the classic low-profile shape, a fit that is easy to tune with swap-out pads, and dual certification across most of the range for skating and bike riding.
FAQs
Can I use the Triple 8 Gotham MIPS for skateboarding and bike riding?
Yes. The Gotham is certified to the US CPSC bicycle helmet standard and the ASTM F1492 skateboard standard. CPSC 1203 is accepted in Australia, so it covers bikes, e-bikes and scooters as well as skating.
What size Triple 8 Gotham MIPS should I get?
Measure around your head about 2cm above the eyebrows and match it to the chart above. If you're between sizes, Triple Eight says size up, then tighten the dial for a snug fit.
What does MIPS do in the Gotham MIPS?
MIPS is a low-friction layer between the liner and your head that lets the helmet move slightly on an angled impact. It was developed by brain surgeons and scientists to reduce the rotational forces that reach the brain in those hits. It works alongside the EPS liner, which handles the direct impact.
When should I replace my helmet?
Replace it after any significant crash or hard hit to the head, even if you can't see damage. The EPS foam liner is built to crush once to absorb a big impact, so after that it won't protect you the same way. Also replace it if the shell is cracked, the foam is dented or the straps and buckle are worn.

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
