The Slappy ST1 Inverted Hollow Lights Ultra Low Kingpin Trucks in Polished 8.0" are the top of the Slappy range. They were built to fix the one thing that's plagued street skaters forever: getting hung up on the kingpin. On a conventional truck, the kingpin nut and thread poke up above the hanger. That's the part that catches on curbs and ledges and throws you off mid-grind. Slappy flips the design. The inverted kingpin threads into the baseplate, so there's nothing sticking up to snag. Slappies, feebles, smiths, hurricanes and anything else that dips the hanger low on the surface lock in smooth and slide out clean.

About Slappy Trucks

Slappy Trucks is the brainchild of Mike Sinclair, one of skateboarding's most respected team managers, with decades behind the scenes at Nike SB, Foundation and Toy Machine. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Sinclair gave himself a choice: learn Japanese or start a truck company. Skateboarding won.

From his garage, he spent more than two years pulling apart every piece of a skateboard truck: hangers, baseplates, bushing heights and duros, kingpins, turning, and above all grind clearance. What size deck do 8.0" Slappy trucks fit?
The 8.0" ST1 suits decks from 7.75" to 8.25", with the best match on an 8.0" deck. As a rule, you want your truck axle width to sit within about ¼" of your deck width so the wheels line up with the edge of the board. If you ride an 8.25"–8.5" deck, step up to the 8.25" ST1.

What is an inverted kingpin and why does it matter?
On a standard truck, the kingpin nut and thread stick up above the hanger, which is what snags on curbs and ledges during grinds. An inverted kingpin threads into the baseplate instead, so there's nothing protruding. You get more clearance, fewer hangups and smoother grinds, especially on slappies, feebles and smiths.
