The Independent Stage 11 Standard is the all-purpose Indy and the benchmark truck in skateboarding. The 159 has a 8.75" axle for decks around 8.6" to 9.0", and it works for street, park, transition and everything in between.
Stage 11s stand 55mm tall, Independent's classic height, with an A356 T6 heat-treated aluminium hanger and baseplate, an SCM435 chromoly steel axle and a Grade 8 kingpin. Responsive 90a cushions give a smooth, controlled turn that's easy to dial in, and the hanger has that familiar Indy grind feel.

What Size Board Does It Fit?
Match the truck's axle width to your deck width, ideally within about 1/4" either side. Too narrow feels twitchy and unstable; too wide and the wheels stick out past the deck and catch your feet. Here is Independent's official size chart for the Stage 11 range.

About Independent
Independent Truck Company was founded in 1978 by Richard Novak and Jay Shuirman, the pair behind Santa Cruz Skateboards, together with Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson, whose San Francisco company Ermico Enterprises manufactured the trucks. The first Indys came out that year, and the brand is still based in Santa Cruz, California.
Today Independent is the truck most skaters picture when they think of a skateboard truck. It is known for a stable, predictable turn, a hanger that grinds smooth and a lifetime guarantee under the motto Built to Grind. From the classic Stage 11 to the lower Mid and the featherweight Forged Titanium, there is an Indy for street, park, bowl and old-school shapes, and they all feel familiar the moment you step on.

What size board do the Independent Stage 11 159 trucks fit?
Boards from about 8.6" to 9.0" wide. The 159 has a 8.75" axle. As a general rule, keep axle width within about a quarter inch of your deck width.
Do the Independent Stage 11 159 trucks come as a pair?
Yes. You get two trucks, enough to set up one skateboard, with kingpin nuts, axle nuts and bushings fitted. Mounting hardware (bolts) is not included, so grab a set of 7/8" or 1" bolts if you don't have them.
Do I need risers with Independent Stage 11 159 trucks?
Usually not. At 55mm tall, Independent says Stage 11s clear wheels 56mm and under. If you run bigger or softer wheels, or ride loose, add a 1/8" riser to stop wheelbite.
What's the difference between Stage 11 Standard, Hollow and Forged?
They all share the same Stage 11 geometry. Hollow models swap in a hollow axle and kingpin to save weight, and Forged models add a lighter forged baseplate and sit 1.5mm lower at 53.5mm. Standard is the toughest, best-value option and the one most skaters start on.
How tight should I set my Indys?
Start with the kingpin nut just snug enough that the bushings sit firmly in the cups, then adjust a quarter turn at a time. Looser turns sharper but can wobble at speed; tighter feels more stable and gives you more pop off the tail. Never back the nut off so far that it isn't fully on the kingpin thread.
