187 Pro Knee Pad | Black
The flagship 187 knee pad for bowl, vert and heavy slams.
The 187 Pro Knee is the pad 187 built its name on, and it's been the flagship since day one. It's made for environments where heavy protection is a must: vert ramps, deep bowls, mega ramps and big park sessions where you'll be knee sliding out of a lot of slams.
Inside is V-22 Dual Density Foam, formulated to balance cushion and protection over multiple hard impacts. The Lock-In Cap System holds the removable cap in the right spot, and the three-panel build, open back and fast-drying lining keep it comfortable and quick to get on and off.

Size Guide
Straighten your leg and wrap a soft tape measure around the middle of your knee. 187 measures the circumference of the extended knee. 187 says its chart is a guide based on averages. If you're between sizes or unsure, size up: customers generally do better with the larger size.
| Size | Knee circumference (cm) | Knee circumference (in) |
|---|---|---|
| JR | 23–28cm | 9–11in |
| XS | 25–30cm | 10–12in |
| S | 30–36cm | 12–14in |
| M | 36–41cm | 14–16in |
| L | 38–43cm | 15–17in |
| XL | 43–51cm | 17–20in |
187 also lists a 2–3XL (53–61cm, 21–24in) on its chart, not stocked in this listing. Pads can feel tight out of the bag and usually loosen after a few sessions. If you can still slide it on, it should break in. 187 publishes this chart in inches; cm values are converted and rounded.
About 187 Killer Pads
187 Killer Pads started out in an upholstery shop run by a single family, and that sewing-room background still shows in every pad: ballistic nylon, industrial-weight stitching and shapes refined over years of feedback from riders. The Pro Knee is the flagship, and 187 calls it the trusted choice of professional skaters and top athletes worldwide for bowls, vert ramps and heavy sessions.
The pro connections run deep. Keegan Palmer and Steve Caballero have both had signature 187 pads, and Lizzie Armanto worked with 187 on what it calls the first women's pro model pads in skateboard history. On the roller derby side, the Pro Derby Knee was developed with input from top derby skaters, and collabs with Independent Trucks keep the skate culture front and centre. From a first six pack to full Pro gear, it's the pad brand riders trust when they're going big.
FAQs
What size 187 Pro Knee should I get?
Measure around your knee with your leg straight and match it to the chart: JR fits 23–28cm (9–11in) up to XL at 43–51cm (17–20in). The ranges overlap a little, so if you're between sizes 187 recommends going up. Expect them to feel snug at first and loosen after a few sessions.
Hard cap or soft pad: why choose the Pro Knee?
The Pro Knee has a removable cap over thick dual-density foam, so you can slide out of a fall on ramps and bowls. Soft pads are lighter for street, but if you're skating transition and knee sliding, a capped pad like this is what you want.
Can I replace the caps?
Yes. The Pro Knee uses the Lock-In Cap System, and 187 sells Lock-In ReCaps sized to fit it. When the caps wear thin from sliding, swap them rather than buying new pads.
Do I wear knee pads over or under pants?
Most transition skaters wear the Pro Knee over their pants, or with shorts and a knee gasket underneath for extra padding and less rub. The open back makes it easy to pull on over jeans.
When should I replace my Pro Knee pads?
Replace the caps when they're worn through, and replace the pads if the foam stays flattened or the shell or stitching is damaged. Foam that no longer springs back won't absorb impacts the same way.

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
