ProTec Vert Knee Pads | Black
Heavy-duty knee pads for vert, bowl and park, with a replaceable cap.
Pro-Tec calls the Vert Knee its most progressive skateboarding knee pad. It's built for heavy-duty protection on vert ramps, bowls and park, where you're knee sliding out of big airs and deep carves. It still gives you full range of motion so it doesn't slow you down.
Dual density foam is made to cushion multiple hard impacts, and Pro-Tec's Lock-In removable cap system means the cap can be swapped out when it wears. A flexible top hinge lets you bend and straighten your leg with little resistance, and the butterfly open back makes it quick to get on and off.

Size Guide
Pro-Tec gives one circumference range per size for the Vert Knee. Wrap a soft tape around your leg at the knee and match it to the chart. Pro-Tec's chart is in inches; we've converted to cm.
| Size | Circumference | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 25–30cm | 10–12" |
| S | 30–36cm | 12–14" |
| M | 36–41cm | 14–16" |
| L | 38–43cm | 15–17" |
| XL | 43–51cm | 17–20" |
Vert pads should fit snug so the cap doesn't rotate off your knee when you slide. M and L overlap at 38–41cm; if you're there, try both if you can.
About Pro-Tec
Pro-Tec has been protecting skaters since 1973 and is one of the most recognisable names in skate and BMX protection. Its Street pads have been around for decades and are still the pad most skaters picture when they think of knee and elbow pads. Pro-Tec says its Street elbow is the pad used by Bucky Lasek, Christian Hosoi and Lincoln Ueda, and its team list runs from Steve Caballero and Steve Alba to Sakura Yosozumi and Australia's own Poppy Starr Olsen, with snowboard legend Todd Richards on the snow side.
Today Pro-Tec is known for no-fuss protection that does the job: tough nylon outers, plastic caps and EVA foam on the Street range, heavier ballistic builds with replaceable caps on the Vert range, and slim neoprene wrist guards for snowboarding. Riders choose Pro-Tec because it fits well, lasts and has been part of skate culture for over 50 years.
FAQs
What size Pro-Tec Vert Knee Pads should I get?
Measure around your knee with a soft tape and match it to the chart, from XS 25–30cm to XL 43–51cm. M and L overlap at 38–41cm, so try both on if you can. The pad should stay put when you knee slide.
What's the difference between Vert and Street knee pads?
The Vert Knee is the heavy-duty option, with dual density foam, a replaceable Lock-In cap and a hinge built for big ramp slams. The Street Knee is lower profile for street and park. If you're skating bowls and vert, go Vert.
Can I replace the cap on the Vert Knee Pads?
Yes. Pro-Tec's Lock-In system makes the cap removable, so you can swap in a new one when it's worn rather than replacing the whole pad. Replacement caps are sold separately.
Should I wear the Vert pads over or under my pants?
Most vert skaters wear them over pants or shorts because they're a bigger pad. The open back makes them easy to strap on over your shoes and pants.
When should I replace my knee pads?
Swap the cap when it's cracked or worn through. Replace the pad when the foam feels flat or the straps stop holding, since compressed foam won't cushion hard hits like new.

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
