Jones Solution Splitboard | 2027
The Ultimate Backcountry Weapon
The Jones Solution Splitboard 2027 is the benchmark all-terrain freeride split — built for riders who go beyond the resort and demand uncompromising performance in the backcountry. Floaty and playful in soft snow, yet stable and grippy on steep, hard conditions, the Solution earns its reputation as the most versatile splitboard in the Jones lineup and one of the best-selling splitboards in the world for over a decade.
A tapered directional shape with 12.5mm of taper sinks the tail naturally in powder, keeping the nose floating without having to fight for it. The camber-dominant Directional Rocker profile delivers more nose rocker than tail, with camber running from the front binding through the tail — powerful edge hold and response exactly where it counts on steep descents and firm traverses. The 3D Contour Base 3.0 features 7mm of spoon bevel in the nose and graduated tail bevel for fast glide and fluid turn initiation in any condition.
The Ultra Split Core is Jones' splitboard-specific lightweight dual-density core — primarily Paulownia with positioned Poplar stringers for durability and turn power. Sustainable Basalt Stringers made from 100% natural fibres improve torsional response and transfer energy from underfoot to the tips, absorbing chatter in variable backcountry terrain. In & Out Traction Tech 2.0 treats both inner and outer edges with contact points for grip on icy descents and skin track traction. Stainless steel reinforcement in the nose and tail protects against impact damage on the kinds of terrain this board is designed for. The Textured EcoPlastic Topsheet is bio-plastic from Castor beans — ultralight, chip-resistant, and snow-repellent.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the Solution and the Solution Ultralight?
The Solution is the standard model — Ultra Split Core, Sustainable Basalt Stringers, Triax Fiberglass, Sintered 9900 base, and Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0. It's a high-performance, durable board that handles every backcountry scenario without compromise. The Solution Ultralight is the premium weight-savings version of the same shape — it adds a Fusion Core with Koroyd synthetic dampening pockets, Fusion Carbon construction, Karakoram 3C Clips (three-point tension system), and a lighter overall build. The Ultralight is aimed at riders doing longer approaches and technical high-alpine objectives where every gram matters on the climb. For most Australian backcountry use — day tours from resort boundaries, Kosciuszko hut-to-hut, and alpine touring in the Snowies — the standard Solution is the better value. The Ultralight is for riders doing extended missions where touring efficiency is the top priority.
What do I need to buy separately to complete the splitboard setup?
The Solution comes with the Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 hardware for connecting the two halves, but you'll need splitboard-specific bindings and climbing skins sold separately. Splitboard bindings are not interchangeable with regular snowboard bindings — they use a different interface designed to lock into tour mode for climbing. Jones makes pre-cut Nomad and Nomad Pro skins laser-cut to match the Solution's Traction Tech edge contours, and they attach directly to the notched tail with the Quick Tension Tail Clip. Come in or call us on 03 9421 2293 and we'll build you a complete touring setup — board, bindings, skins, and any safety gear you need.
Is the Solution suitable for riders new to splitboarding?
It's genuinely one of the most user-friendly high-performance splitboards available, but the 8/10 stiffness means lighter or less experienced riders may find it harder to flex and initiate turns. If you're under 65kg or in your first season of splitboarding, the Women's Stratos Split or Hovercraft 2.0 Split (softer flex, more forgiving shape) may be more approachable starting points. If you're an experienced resort rider making the transition to the backcountry at an intermediate to advanced level, the Solution rewards that experience immediately and grows with you for years. Still unsure? Come in and talk to our team — we've set up a lot of people for their first backcountry season and can match you to the right board and setup.
