Powell Peralta Sym Dragon Wheels | 54mm/88a
The V4 street shape in Powell's softest Dragon.
This 54mm Dragon wheel uses Powell's V4 shape in 88a. It's a classic street wheel for skaters who want comfort on rough city streets without moving to a cruiser setup.
The V4 is a symmetrical double radial shape with a medium ride patch and centreset bearing, 34mm wide with a 17mm contact width. DF-88 has over 82% rebound, so it rolls fast and smooth over bad ground and still slides on ledges and coping.

About Powell Peralta
Powell Peralta was founded in 1978 by engineer George Powell and skater Stacy Peralta in Santa Barbara, California. Powell had already been baking his own urethane wheels and building his own boards since the mid 1970s, and in 1979 the pair formed the Bones Brigade, the team that included Ray "Bones" Rodriguez, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Tommy Guerrero and Mike Vallely.
Today Powell Peralta still puts a big focus on urethane research and its own wheel formulas. Dragon Formula covers street and park, while Soft Slide Formula (SSF) covers cruising, freeride and downhill. Riders pick Powell because the wheels last, roll fast and slide when you want them to, and because the brand has been part of skating for close to five decades.
FAQs
What are 88a Dragon wheels best for?
Mixed terrain. Dragon Formula rolls over rough ground you'd normally walk, then still grips and slides at the spot, so one set covers street, park and getting there.
What does 88a mean?
88a is the hardness on the A scale, much softer than the usual 99a street wheel. Powell says DF-88s grip and slide like harder wheels, so you get a smooth ride without losing street feel.
Will 54mm wheels fit my board?
Yes. 54mm fits any popsicle deck without risers on mid or high trucks, and most low-truck setups too.
Do they come with bearings?
No. You get a set of 4 wheels with no bearings. Any standard 608 skateboard bearing fits, so you'll need a set of 8 (two per wheel), plus spacers if your bearings don't have them built in.
