What Is a Onewheel?

A Onewheel is a self-balancing single-wheel electric board. A go-kart-style tyre sits in the middle of the deck, and a motor plus gyroscopic sensors keep you balanced front-to-back. You speed up by leaning forward and slow down by leaning back — there's no remote, no throttle, just your body. That control is what makes it feel like surfing or snowboarding: fluid, intuitive and addictive. The single large tyre also floats over terrain that stops a normal electric skateboard — footpaths, grass, gravel, dirt trails and beach hardpack.

How to Choose the Right Onewheel

• Rider weight & terrain: heavier riders, hills and off-road favour the GT/GT-S; lighter riders and flatter commutes are well served by the Pint X.
• Range you need: the GT goes furthest; the Pint X is plenty for most commutes. Buy with margin — real range is always less than claimed.
• Portability: the Pint X is lighter with a handle for carrying onto trains and into the office; the GT is bigger and heavier.
• Budget: the Pint X is the more accessible entry; the GT is the no-compromise performance option.

Onewheel Questions, Answered

How far can a Onewheel go on one charge? It depends on the model, your weight, the terrain and the temperature. The GT has the longest range and the Pint X covers most commutes comfortably. Claimed range is a best-case figure — expect less with hills, a heavier rider, off-road riding or cold weather. Tell us your distance and we'll recommend a model that covers it with margin.

Is a Onewheel hard to learn? Most people are cruising within their first session. The lean-to-go control is intuitive, and practice quickly makes it fluid. There's a knack to mounting and dismounting that clicks fast. We'll get you started safely — wear wrist guards and a helmet while you learn.

Can a Onewheel go off-road? Yes — it's one of its best qualities. The single large tyre floats over grass, gravel, dirt and beach hardpack, the GT especially with its bigger motor and tyre options. It genuinely goes where wheeled boards can't.

Can a Onewheel climb hills? Yes, and well — the GT in particular handles steep Melbourne hills confidently. Hill performance scales with the model, rider weight and battery charge.

How fast does a Onewheel go? Top speed varies by model, with the GT the fastest. Reaching it depends on rider weight, terrain and charge. The board uses pushback (the nose lifts) to warn you as you approach the limit — respect it.

GT or Pint X — which should I buy? GT/GT-S for maximum power, range, hills and off-road, and for heavier or committed riders. Pint X for a lighter, more affordable, easy-to-carry commuter. Come ride both and decide.

Are Onewheels safe? Like any board sport, riding within your limits and wearing protective gear is key. Always wear a helmet and wrist guards, learn pushback, keep the board charged and the firmware up to date, and don't ride beyond the board's warnings. Battery Care & Safety

Use the supplied charger, don't charge unattended overnight, store it cool and not fully flat for long periods, and keep tyre pressure and firmware in check.
