Orangatang Beefcake Wheels 73mm | 83a
A beefy 73mm freeride wheel for long, consistent slides.
The Beefcake is Orangatang's 73mm freeride wheel, built for sliding. It's beefy enough to keep its shape through a full season of hard sessions, and it suits everyone from riders learning their first slides to those linking fast, technical rotations. This set is the 83a durometer.
It's poured in Happy Thane with rounded lips and a stone-ground surface, so it drifts smoothly from the first run. The 48mm width and narrow 31mm contact patch break loose predictably, and the centre-set bearing seat means you can flip the wheels to even out wear. It's a fast, smooth, consistent slide wheel.

About Orangatang
Orangatang was hatched in Southern California in 2008 as the sister wheel brand of Loaded Boards. The two still share a building and most of the same crew in Culver City: Loaded builds the boards, and Orangatang makes what they roll on.
Orangatang is known for its Happy Thane urethane, a smooth, fast, high-traction formula, poured into shapes for every kind of longboarding, from compact freeride wheels to 105mm giants for distance pushing and e-skate. Every wheel is listed with real numbers for width, contact patch, lip shape and bearing seat, so you can choose exactly the ride you want.
FAQs
What are Orangatang Beefcake wheels best for?
Freeride sliding. The rounded lips, stone-ground surface and narrow 31mm contact patch make slides smooth and predictable, from your first stand-up slides to fast technical rotations.
What does 83a mean?
83a is a medium-firm hardness on the A scale. On the Beefcake it breaks into slides more easily than 80a and wears well, with a little less grip. Go 86a for even drifter slides, or 80a for more grip and a softer ride.
Do I need risers for 73mm wheels?
On a drop-through or drop-deck freeride board, usually not. On a topmount, you'll likely want a 1/8" to 1/4" riser. Check for wheelbite at full lean before you ride.
Why is centre-set good for sliding?
Because you can flip the wheels. Slides wear the outer edge, and with a centre-set bearing seat you can turn the wheel around so both edges wear evenly. That keeps the slide consistent and makes the set last longer.
Do they come with bearings?
No, they're sold as wheels only. You'll need 8 standard 608 skate bearings for a set of 4, and on longboard wheels we recommend bearings with built-in spacers, or separate spacers, for a smoother, longer-lasting setup.

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
