Landyachtz Groveler Surfskate Purple | 32.5"
The roomiest Landyachtz surfskate, with an egg-shaped deck.
The Groveler is the biggest board in the Landyachtz surfskate range. Its wide, egg-shaped deck gives you loads of room to move your feet, so it feels more like a fun, roomy surfboard than a compact skate. It suits bigger riders, people with larger feet and anyone who wants a stable, forgiving surfskate.
The 32.5" x 10.2" deck is Canadian maple with low concave and a kicktail, topped with Landyachtz soft-top grip made for comfort, even barefoot. It runs the Bear Banger surfskate setup with a Polar Bear rear truck and 65mm 78a Hawgs wheels. The long 17.8" wheelbase and wide platform make for smooth, drawn-out carves and steady pumping.

About Landyachtz
Landyachtz was started in 1997 by childhood friends Tom Edstrand and Mike Perreten while they were studying at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Their first production run was pressed in a ski racing shed at Blackcomb, near Whistler. The company then moved to North Vancouver, first into a family garage and then into shared space with Invasion Snowboards, and it was there Landyachtz developed its own Bear Trucks and Hawgs Wheels. Tom Edstrand went on to win the IGSA longboarding world championship in 2005.
Today Landyachtz is still skater owned and operated, based in the Strathcona neighbourhood of Vancouver. It designs its decks, trucks and wheels to work together as one complete, from compact Dinghy cruisers and surfskates to dancing boards and downhill freeride decks. Through its One Board One Tree program, Landyachtz plants a tree for every board it sells. If you want a complete where every part was chosen for the deck it's bolted to, Landyachtz is a safe bet.
FAQs
What is the Landyachtz Groveler best for?
Smooth, flowing carves and relaxed pumping. The wide egg shape and long wheelbase make it the most stable and roomy surfskate in the Landyachtz range, so it's great for beach paths, long footpaths and riders who like to move their feet around.
Is a 32.5" surfskate the right size for me?
It's the pick for taller riders, bigger feet and anyone who wants maximum stability. At 10.2" wide it gives a lot of foot room, so it suits size 10 and up comfortably, but it still works well for average-size riders who want a calmer ride. If you want quicker, tighter turns, look at the 31" Butter or 29.6" Pocket Knife.
Is the Groveler good for beginners?
Yes. The wide deck, long wheelbase and soft-top grip make it the most forgiving Landyachtz surfskate to learn on. The Banger front still turns hard, so start slow on smooth, flat ground and build up to pumping.
What is a surfskate?
A surfskate is a skateboard with a front truck that turns much further than a normal truck, so you can pump for speed and carve tight, surf-style turns without pushing. Landyachtz surfskates use the Bear Banger: a high-angle reverse-kingpin front truck with its own geometry and extra-tall bushings for a huge amount of turn, paired with a traditional-kingpin Polar Bear rear truck that keeps the back end stable and predictable. There are no springs or swing arms, so it feels loose up front but still pushes and cruises like a normal board.
Can I commute on the Groveler?
For short trips, yes, and it's the best Landyachtz surfskate for it thanks to the longer wheelbase and wide deck. The 65mm 78a wheels roll over cracks and rough footpaths comfortably. For long or fast commutes, a cruiser or longboard with more stable trucks will still be more efficient.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings installed. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.

Simply put, a surfskate is a skateboard for surfing the street. Surfskates use special trucks that enable riders to mimic the movements, feel, and flow of surfing. Surfskates were originally invented by surfers who wanted something to do on flat days. As time has passed, surf skating has proven to be one of the most enduring passions of skaters and surfers alike. Whether you love to skate or surf, surfskating is the closest experience you can get to gliding down and carving a wave.
