How BOA works. A dial winds a stainless steel cable through low-friction guides. Turn it to tighten in micro-increments, pull the dial out to release the whole system instantly. There is nothing to tie and nothing to tuck, and it works with gloves on in a lift line.

Single, dual and triple zone. A single-dial boot tightens the whole boot at once and is the simplest and most affordable option. A dual-zone boot gives you separate dials for the lower foot and the upper cuff, so you can lock your heel down hard while keeping the cuff softer for flex, or the reverse. Some boots add a third dial or an internal liner harness that pulls the heel back into the pocket. More zones means more control, and more cost.

How it compares to traditional and speed lacing. Traditional laces give the most granular control but take the longest, loosen through the day, and are difficult to adjust with gloves on. Speed lace is quick but pressure distribution is less even. BOA holds tension more consistently across a full day than either, and its real advantage is mid-run adjustment: you can drop the cuff a click on the chairlift without taking a glove off.

Durability and warranty. The common worry is that a dial will fail on the hill and end your day. In practice failures are rare, and BOA backs the system with a lifetime guarantee covering the dials, laces and guides for the life of the boot. We handle those warranty claims in-house at our Richmond store rather than sending you back to the brand.

Fit still comes first. No lacing system fixes a boot that is the wrong shape for your foot. Get the size and the last right, then choose the closure. We heat mould every boot free with purchase, which shapes the liner to your foot and makes a substantial difference to both comfort and heel hold.
