Slappy ST1 Classic Skateboard Trucks Pair | 8.0"
Grind clearance first, in the go-to 8.0" street size.
The Slappy ST1 Classic 8.0" is the truck that started Slappy, designed by industry legend Mike Sinclair and sold here as a pair. It's for street skaters on an 8.0" deck who live on kerbs, ledges and rails.
Sinclair spent more than two years refining the hanger, baseplate, bushings and kingpin to get more grind clearance without losing turn. The aluminium hanger and baseplate give the Classic 6.3mm of grind clearance and a 15° slappy angle, Slappy's figures, so the kingpin is less likely to catch on smiths, feebles and slappies. It sits at 53.9mm, turns quickly, resists wheel bite and needs no break-in time.
Key Features
- 6.3mm grind clearance: the kingpin stays out of the way on grinds
- 15° slappy angle: lock into kerbs further before anything catches
- Quick turn, no break-in: dialled straight out of the box
- Less wheel bite: geometry built to keep wheels off the deck
- Aluminium hanger and baseplate: strong and simple
- 8.0" axle: made for 7.875" to 8.125" decks
- Sold as a pair: two trucks, enough for one board

What Size Board Does It Fit?
Slappy names every ST1 by the deck width it fits, so an 8.5 truck goes on an 8.5" deck. Aim to be within about 1/8" either side; up to about 1/4" still works if you like your wheels a touch in or out from the edge.

About Slappy Trucks
Slappy Trucks is the work of Mike Sinclair, one of skateboarding's best known team managers, with years spent running teams for Tum Yeto brands Toy Machine and Foundation and for Nike SB. When the world locked down during the pandemic, Sinclair started pulling his trucks apart in his garage. In his words, it was either trucks or learn Japanese. Sampling ran for more than two years before he announced Slappy in late 2022, independent and run out of his garage.
Every ST1 is built around one idea: the best grind clearance possible without giving up a good turn. Slappy publishes its own grind clearance and slappy angle figures, and its inverted kingpin models push them furthest. Slappy also sells its parts one at a time, so a worn piece can be replaced without buying a whole new truck. Skaters pick Slappy for kerbs, ledges and slappies that lock in without the kingpin catching.
FAQs
What size board do the Slappy ST1 Classic 8.0" trucks fit?
They fit decks from 7.875" to 8.125", with the best match on a 8.0" deck. Slappy names its trucks by the deck width they fit, so it's easy to pick. Within about 1/4" either side still works.
What is grind clearance and why does it matter?
Grind clearance is the distance from the top of the kingpin to the top of the hanger. More clearance means the kingpin is less likely to catch on the ledge or kerb mid-grind. The ST1 Classic has 6.3mm, and Slappy's inverted models go further.
How tight should I set my Slappy trucks?
Start with the kingpin nut snug, then back it off a quarter turn at a time until the board turns easily but doesn't wobble at speed. Slappys need no break-in, so the feel you set on day one is the feel you keep. Leave at least two threads showing above the nut.
Do I need risers with Slappy ST1 Classic trucks?
Usually not. At 53.9mm they suit most street and park wheels up to about 56mm without risers. If you run bigger or softer wheels, add a 1/8" riser and use 1/4" longer bolts.
Do these come as a pair?
Yes. TBS sells the ST1 Classic as a pair, which is enough for one board.
