Who are Yuki Threads?

Yuki Threads is an Australian brand, designed here and grown out of snow culture rather than borrowed from it. Yuki is the Japanese word for snow, which tells you where the influence comes from. It has become one of the few brands Australian riders wear as much off the hill as on it.

What makes a Yuki hoodie different from a normal hoodie?

Weight and construction, mostly. These are heavyweight fleece builds rather than thin fashion pieces, with embroidery and graphics that survive being shoved in a boot bag for a season. The cut runs relaxed on purpose, because a hoodie you might layer under a jacket needs room to move and room to go over something else.

Can you actually ride in one?

As a mid-layer on a mild day, yes, and plenty of people do. Be clear about the tradeoff though. Cotton-heavy fleece holds moisture, so once it is damp with sweat or snow it stays damp and stops insulating you. For a cold or long day you want a technical mid-layer under your jacket, and the hoodie for the drive up, the lodge and afterwards.

What size should you get?

The fit is relaxed by design, so your normal size gives you a comfortable, slightly roomy cut. Size up only if you want a properly oversized look or you intend to wear it over a thicker layer. Cuts vary between the oversized pullovers and the more classic logo styles, so check the individual product page.

Looking after it

Cold wash, inside out, hang to dry. Heat is what destroys embroidery and printed graphics, so keep it out of the dryer. Treated properly these last years rather than seasons, which is most of the point of buying a heavyweight one.
