Lander True Blue Rio Complete | 24.5"
A pocket cruiser made from recycled fishing nets.
The Lander Rio in True Blue is a 24.5" compact cruiser with Lander's perforated, recycled nylon deck in a deep blue. It's built to grab and go: last-mile commutes, campus runs and travel. It suits kids, teens and adults who want a light, tough board that fits in a backpack.
Like every Lander, the deck is injection moulded from recycled nylon, much of it from old fishing nets, with glass-fibre reinforcement and ribs underneath to keep it stiff. It's waterproof, and the raised rings around each hole give built-in traction with no griptape. The diagonal hole pattern adds a touch of twist for snappy, carvy turns, while Paris 108mm Street trucks and softer Lander 59mm 80a wheels keep it smooth and quiet around town.

About Lander Skateboards
Lander Skateboards started in Los Angeles in 2015, when Ryan Anderson, founder of LA design studio RAD Furniture, welded a skateboard out of scrap perforated steel just for fun. People loved the holey look, so Anderson, RAD partner Russell Hill and a crew of designers and skaters, including former pro DJ Chavez of LA skate shop Kingswell, turned it into a real board. The Beta model launched in 2022, Paris Trucks came on as manufacturing and distribution partner, and the project earned a Notable in the 2023 Core77 Design Awards.
Today every Lander deck is injection moulded from recycled nylon, much of it from old commercial fishing nets, reinforced with long-strand glass fibre. The perforated hole pattern isn't just for looks: raised rings around each hole give built-in traction with no griptape, and the diagonal pattern lets the deck twist slightly for quick, carvy cuts. The Rio and Rodeo were co-designed with former pro skaters, and riders choose them for a waterproof, rigid, low-waste cruiser that rides like nothing else.
FAQs
What is the Lander Rio best for?
Short trips and last-mile rides: train to work, around campus, to the shops or packed in a bag for travel. It's Lander's compact cruiser, light and easy to carry.
Is a 24.5" cruiser the right size for me?
24.5" is a mini cruiser, great for kids, teens and adults who want maximum portability, and riders with small to medium feet will feel most comfortable. Bigger feet or taller riders usually prefer the 30" Lander Rodeo for more foot room and stability.
Is the Rio good for beginners?
It works for beginners who mainly want a portable board, and kids pick it up quickly. The short 13.25" wheelbase makes it quick to turn but less stable than a bigger board, so adult first-timers will usually find the 30" Rodeo easier to learn on.
Cruiser vs skateboard: what's the difference?
A cruiser is made for getting around, not tricks. The Rio has a compact cruiser shape with lifted wheel wells and softer 59mm 80a wheels that roll smoother over rough ground than the small, hard wheels on a street skateboard. Street decks have double kicks and hard wheels for flip tricks and ledges.
Can I commute on the Rio?
Yes, that's what it's built for, as long as the trips are short. It's light, compact and waterproof, and the 80a wheels handle normal footpaths smoothly. For long distances or very rough roads, a longboard with bigger, softer wheels will be more comfortable.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with Paris trucks, wheels and bearings installed, and the grip is built into the deck, so there's no griptape to apply. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.
