Independent Stage 11 Forged Hollow Silver Standard Trucks | 169 (Pair)
Lighter Indys for wide boards, with a forged baseplate.
The Independent Stage 11 Forged Hollow is a super lightweight Stage 11 with a forged baseplate and a hollow axle and kingpin. The 169 has a 9.125" axle for wide decks around 9.0" to 9.5", so it suits bowl, transition and wide street boards where you still want a lighter setup.
The hanger is A356 T6 heat-treated aluminium and the baseplate is forged 6061 aluminium, which is thinner than a cast plate while staying dense and strong. The axle and kingpin are hollow chromoly steel. Independent says it's 10% lighter than a Stage 11 Standard, and it sits 53.5mm tall, 1.5mm lower than standard, with responsive 90a cushions.

What Size Board Does It Fit?
Match the truck's axle width to your deck width, ideally within about 1/4" either side. Too narrow feels twitchy and unstable; too wide and the wheels stick out past the deck and catch your feet. Here is Independent's official size chart for the Stage 11 Forged Hollow.
| Truck size | Axle width | Best board width |
|---|---|---|
| 129 | 7.6" | 7.4"–7.8" |
| 139 | 8.0" | 7.8"–8.2" |
| 144 | 8.25" | 8.2"–8.375" |
| 149 | 8.5" | 8.375"–8.6" |
| 159 | 8.75" | 8.6"–9.0" |
| 169 | 9.125" | 9.0"–9.5" |
Riding a 9" deck? Either the 159 or 169 works: the 169 feels more stable, the 159 a little quicker.
About Independent
Independent Truck Company was founded in 1978 by Richard Novak and Jay Shuirman, the pair behind Santa Cruz Skateboards, together with Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson, whose San Francisco company Ermico Enterprises manufactured the trucks. The first Indys came out that year, and the brand is still based in Santa Cruz, California.
Today Independent is the truck most skaters picture when they think of a skateboard truck. It is known for a stable, predictable turn, a hanger that grinds smooth and a lifetime guarantee under the motto Built to Grind. From the classic Stage 11 to the lower Mid and the featherweight Forged Titanium, there is an Indy for street, park, bowl and old-school shapes, and they all feel familiar the moment you step on.
FAQs
What size board do the Independent Forged Hollow 169 trucks fit?
Boards from about 9.0" to 9.5" wide. The 169 has a 9.125" axle, so it lines up with wide street, bowl and transition decks.
What's the difference between Forged Hollow and Standard Indys?
Weight and height. Forged Hollows use a forged baseplate and hollow axle and kingpin to come in about 10% lighter, and they sit 53.5mm tall instead of 55mm. The geometry and turn feel are the same Stage 11.
Do I need risers with Forged Hollow Indys?
Not with wheels 54mm and under, which is Independent's recommendation for the 53.5mm height. For bigger or softer transition wheels, add a 1/8" riser to avoid wheelbite.
Do the Independent Forged Hollow 169 trucks come as a pair?
Yes. You get two trucks, enough to set up one skateboard, with kingpin nuts, axle nuts and bushings fitted. Mounting hardware (bolts) is not included, so grab a set of 7/8" or 1" bolts if you don't have them.
How tight should I set my Forged Hollow Indys?
Start with the kingpin nut just snug enough that the bushings sit firmly in the cups, then adjust a quarter turn at a time. Looser turns sharper but can wobble at speed; tighter feels more stable and gives you more pop off the tail. Never back the nut off so far that it isn't fully on the kingpin thread.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
