What makes YOW different from Carver?

YOW's Meraki system uses a spring-loaded front axle rather than Carver's pivot or compression mechanism. It absorbs and returns energy with each pump stroke, so it generates speed efficiently on flat ground without needing a hill or a push. Less pivot, more pump.

Can you generate speed on a YOW without a hill?

Yes, that is the whole point of the Meraki system. The spring-loaded front truck lets you build and maintain momentum on flat ground using the same hip-driven weight transfer you use surfing, so you can pump to speed from a standing start.

Is YOW good for surf training?

Yes, it is designed for it. The pump-driven speed generation and surfboard-inspired deck shapes make YOW excellent for practising the weight transfer and flow of surfing on land, especially for riders who want to train the pump specifically.

Should I get YOW or Carver?

YOW for pump-driven speed generation on flat ground and surf training; Carver for pivot-based carving feel. Both are excellent and it comes down to what you prioritise. Come in and we will walk you through the mechanical differences in person.
