Jones Stratos Snowboard | 2027
Take It Everywhere
The Jones Stratos 2027 is a hybrid all-mountain board built for creative all-terrain freeriding. A tapered directional freeride shape matched with an energetic, playful feel makes the Stratos incredibly agile in pow and mixed conditions — ready to rail turns in hardpack, bash through crust with confidence, and float down pow lines with authority.
The Stratos runs a camber-dominant directional rocker profile — more nose rocker than tail, with camber running from the front binding all the way through the tail. The nose rises freely in powder while the tail stays planted and precise, giving you the edge hold and stability of camber exactly where you need it. The 3D Contour Base 3.0 takes this further with 7mm of spoon bevel in both the nose and tail, starting at the rocker point — more aggressive than the Mountain Twin's 2.0 setup, tuned specifically for freeride float and glide. Traction Tech 3.0 adds three contact points per edge (front binding, board centre, back binding) for maximum grip when conditions firm up.
The Master Core uses dual-density Paulownia and Poplar for a core that's light, poppy, and durable across the full length of the board. BComp Carbon/Flax Stringers add explosive snap while the flax component absorbs chatter — critical for an all-mountain board that's going to encounter variable Australian resort snow. The 2027 Stratos is upgraded to the Sintered 9900 Base — UHMW-PE and carbon construction, faster and tougher than the 8000 series — along with recycled ABS sidewalls, oversize recycled German steel edges, and Bio Resin epoxy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the Stratos and the Mountain Twin?
The Mountain Twin is the all-mountain freestyle board — directional twin shape, CamRock profile, centred or setback inserts, and a medium flex (6/10) that's equally at home in the park or on groomers. The Stratos is the all-mountain freeride board — more tapered, more directional, camber-dominant rocker, setback-only inserts, and a mid-stiff flex (7/10) tuned for charging. The Stratos also runs the more aggressive 3D Contour Base 3.0 (7mm/7mm bevel) versus the Mountain Twin's 2.0 (4mm/0–4mm), and is upgraded to the Sintered 9900 base for the 2027 model. If you split your time between park and all-mountain, the Mountain Twin. If you mostly freeride, charge groomers, and want genuine powder capability with more power underfoot, the Stratos.
Should I choose a regular or wide size?
Choose wide (W) sizing if your boot size is US10.5 or larger. The wide versions add roughly 7–9mm of waist width, eliminating toe and heel drag when driving hard on edge — especially relevant on a board you'll be riding at speed on groomers. If you're a US10 or right on the boundary, it's worth coming in or calling us on 03 9421 2293 to check against your specific boot. The 2cm setback on all Stratos sizes also naturally shifts your weight back slightly, which affects how the board feels relative to width — worth factoring in when deciding.
Is the Stratos a good board for Australian resorts?
Yes — and the 2027 spec upgrades make it even better suited. The Sintered 9900 base is notably faster than the 8000 on hardpack and groomed runs, which makes up a large proportion of riding at Australian resorts. The Traction Tech 3.0 edge system is the key feature for local conditions — Australian resorts frequently serve up firm, icy, or wind-affected snow, and those three contact points per edge make a real difference in how the board hooks up. On the good powder days at Buller or Falls Creek, the directional rocker, 10mm taper, and 3D Contour Base 3.0 do exactly what they're designed for. It's a genuinely versatile board for Australian conditions rather than a board that only shines on perfect pow days.
